KFAR RUMMAN, Lebanon — Israel’s air force carried out two airstrikes early Monday on the southern Lebanese village of Kfar Rumman, killing at least 12 people and wounding others, including children, Lebanon’s Health Ministry told the Associated Press.
One strike hit a building, killing 11 people, including two children and four women, and wounding eight, among them three children and a paramedic. A second strike on a car killed a paramedic with the Lebanese Islamic Risala Scout Association and wounded two others. The Israeli military said the strikes answered two Hezbollah drone attacks on Israeli troops in Lebanon and targeted a militant transporting weapons; Hezbollah did not immediately claim the drones or comment on the strikes.
The attacks come amid repeated violations of a U.S.-brokered truce and days after Israel said it held “operational control” of Ali Taher hill overlooking approaches to Nabatiyeh. Kfar Rumman mayor Abdullah Farhat called the toll “a massacre in every sense of the word.”
