At least four people, including a two-month-old baby girl, were killed when a truck packed with explosives blew up near a military base in Planadas, in Colombia’s Tolima department, on Sunday night.
The blast damaged a nearby hospital, a pharmacy and other buildings. Tolima Governor Adriana Magali Matiz called it “a vile and criminal act that we reject with absolute forcefulness,” according to the BBC.
“Attacking the civilian population and putting at risk the lives of our soldiers and the Tolima families is crossing a line that we will not tolerate,” she added. Colombian media reported more than a dozen injured.
No group has claimed the attack. Armed groups have stepped up attacks on security forces since President Abelardo de la Espriella, sworn in in August, ended peace talks and ordered an offensive against them. On Saturday, a motorcycle bomb in Huila killed a police officer and injured six.
